Formed in 2011, ARCTEC is a strategic partner to the research and development programmes of some of the world’s largest and most innovative companies in public health and vector control, offering product development, efficacy testing and consultancy.

Our world-class team of research scientists, entomologists and trial specialists, all of whom are trained in GLP and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), work closely with clients to cultivate ideas and accelerate product development, providing you with fast and robust testing results.

With this high level of expertise, you can be confident your vector control product has been rigorously tested for both internal development purposes and product registration. Since we started our testing service, ARCTEC has been instrumental in bringing over 300 innovative products to market.

Beyond our testing capabilities, we also offer training and education on vector control and vector-borne diseases. We deliver open-access online courses; we run a highly successful travel health awareness campaign aimed at the general public in the UK; and we co-ordinate and manage community-based behaviour change intervention trials and educational campaigns in disease-endemic countries.

Whether you’re looking for small-scale product development, to a full clinical trial, we can meet your testing needs.

Mission & Vision

Our research acts as a bridge between the School’s academic pursuits and the needs of industry, and is critical to combatting vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, Zika and yellow fever worldwide.

ARCTEC has built a highly-skilled team, with an outstanding reputation for scientific quality and service, and a passion for improving health and saving lives worldwide.

Our vision consists of two main objectives, which are:

  • to offer industry, government, non-profit and academic institutions a reputable and world class service for the independent testing of arthropod control products and technologies.
  • to exploit new technologies and collaborations with industrial clients to achieve high quality academic research leading to high impacting publications and research grant applications to facilitate product development.
