James has more than 10 years of experience in the laboratory and field (UK and overseas) of controlling insects of medical and veterinary importance. James has a first class honours degree in Zoology from the University of Aberdeen and an award-winning PhD investigating why some people are bitten more than others by mosquitoes and midges, which was based at Rothamsted Research. James then led his own research group of researchers within the Chemical Ecology Programme at Rothamsted, before joining the Department of Disease Control at LSHTM in 2010 where he runs his own research group and the newly branded ARCTEC. James regularly publishes in high impacting scientific journals and is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.
