With the warm weather aplenty at the moment, and British people spending time outdoors during the summer holidays, this year’s BBC Countryfile Live show provided ARCTEC with the perfect platform to share advice on the prevention and treatment of insect bites with members of the public.

Every year, we run several educational and awareness activities to empower people to stay safe from insect bites and the risk of mosquito-borne diseases (if abroad), via our successful Bug Off! campaign.

The popular BBC Countryfile Live event, held in the grounds of Oxfordshire’s Blenheim Palace from 1 to 4 August, was a key feature in our 2019 Bug Off! campaign. The national country show enabled our entomologists to provide thousands of attendees with important advice, information ad guidance on using suitable repellents and antihistamine creams to prevent and treat insect bites.

Our superb team made sure our visitors were engaged on the stand by inviting members of the public  to test their ‘attractiveness’ to a demonstration cage of our lab-reared, female Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.

Across a busy 4 days, more than 1,200 people took part in our social experiment, with the varying results charted on a graph on the stand.
