Who are we?
ARCTEC is a specialist contract research organisation, conducting testing and evaluation of pest and vector control products and technologies in our laboratory facilities at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
We are members of the UK GLP compliance monitoring programme, and our robust testing protocols are set by regulatory authorities such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).Learn more
We conduct independent testing of repellents, insecticides, traps and lures for the public health, veterinary and pest control sectors, against a variety of arthropod species including mosquitoes, bed bugs, ticks, sand flies, house dust mites, ants, fleas, head lice, cockroaches, wasps, and houseflies.
Beyond our testing capabilities, we offer a range of consultancy services, study design oversight, training and education on vector control, and co-ordination of community-based intervention trials in disease-endemic countries.Learn more
Our specialist facilities at the School include controlled-environment laboratories and insect behaviour suites designed for testing of insecticides, repellents, traps, lures and other arthropod control products.
We also have access to brand new insectaries where we rear and maintain 12 different mosquito strains (including insecticide-susceptible and resistant strains), house flies, sand flies, house dust mites and other arthropod species.Learn more
Expert and experienced scientists
Our highly-skilled team of trial managers, research scientists, entomologists and clinicians have many years of academic and industrial experience in the laboratory and field, including disease-endemic settings.
We also ensure all of our staff members are fully trained in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations and processes.Learn more
